A New Jersey Textile Mill in the 21st Century
A series of photographs, taken during many visits to a small, specialty textile mill in Hawthorne, NJ. These photographs, some representational, some abstract, are my personal responses to a family-owned factory that is adapting to the postindustrial era. In 2018 I returned to Valenta and Sons to document Jerry and Richie Valenta as they set up and maintained the looms.
Great Falls Metalworks
Great Falls Metalworks designs and produces jewelry. When these photographs were taken, Great Falls was located in a Paterson NJ building that formerly housed a silk mill. Until recently, GFM built many of the jigs and tools that they use to create their pieces.
